Serene, soft, perfect grey country house combined with large green mountains, wide blue river equals absolutely fabulous country hideaway two hours out of Cape Town. Perfect for that weekend or couple of weeks away from it all.
Die Laaitjie is bang in the middle of the Dassieshoek valley of the Langeberg mountains near Robertson, with a long, beautifully scenic gravel road leading to the farm. The farm produces fruit and wine in a traditional hand crafted method and the valley is filled with gorgeous, colourful blossoms each spring from all the peach, pear and apricot trees.
Die Laaitjie is named after a children’s ‘tag’ game and is an ideal location being remote but still only 7 km from Robertson and the wine route.
The décor is a mix of formal smudgy dove greys, pale pink highlights, chandeliers with classic Victorian and it is just… too beautiful. The smart galley style kitchen with orderly square white tiles has all the goodies to cook up a storm if you feel like it and you are even invited to pick your very own veggies from the kitchen garden!
Every bedroom opens up onto the terrace and has floor to ceiling sumptuous soft grey curtains, carefully placed armchair to enjoy the landscapes, white linens and blankets. There is a pool, a dam, an outside dining area, fireplace or built in barbeque, to keep warm on chilly nights whilst star gazing and I just love the hurricane lamps outside as they are so romantic.
Wonderful for hiking, walking the ravines, horse riding trails and perfect for long weekends from Cape Town or further afield, just enjoy this country hideaway where you are really close to those stars!
