La maison d'un Cypres
Provence, France
There are a magnificent pair of really large antique iron gates which open directly onto the garden. Le Crueset pans ,cook books and “bread boards galore”!! The large fridge is a top of the range chrome number with a separate freezer (with integrated ice maker and wine fridge). There is certainly a dish washer! Though none of the antique plates & cutlery can go in it. If guests want to use them and are happy to wash by hand they are welcome to use them, if not there are Ikea alternatives. In winter there is an oil fired central heating system. There are also 2 fireplaces, one in the dining room & one on the living room. In the dormitory & guest rooms there are electric radiators. Uzes has a huge selection of restaurants. It is a roman town with a central square, les Place aux Herbes which is divine! There is a market there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are loads of tempting shops too. Plus other highly recommended places to eat in other nearby villages. The bar opens in summer and it is lovely to stroll down there in the evening. They charge €1 for a glass of wine! Just outside town is the Haribo sweet factory and museum....A kids dream! In the other direction is La Bouscarasse. An outdoor water park, again fabulous fun. The Pont du Gard is not far away, France's 2nd most visited monument after the Eiffel Tower. Truly Spectacular and worth a whole day out. There are restaurants there, but a picnic & swimming is much nicer. Just before that in 'Collias' there is canoeing. Nimes, Avignon & Montpellier are 1 hr/40 min/1 and half hrs drive. All beautiful cities with loads to see. Just outside the Belvezet* valley is a private air field, those with a pilot’s license can hire small planes as well as hot air ballooning available. There are quite a few riding/pony clubs that can be joined for just a day or longer. *Belvezet is made up of 4 hamlets,of which Le Puget, where La maison d'un Cypres is, is the 3rd. There are vineyards, wine makers & Chateaux all around. Organic growers sell at the local markets & directly from their land sometimes. In town there are several supermarkets. |
