Handpicked for you...

It’s rare to experience complete tranquillity broken only by the hoot of hunting owls or the first morning call of the Cape Robin-chat and yet be 25 minutes from a major airport and 40 minutes from one of the world’s most popular cities. Set in the magic arc between the rising and setting sun with False Bay, Sir Lowry’s Pass and a distant iconic Table Mountain framing your view, nature creates the dramatic setting for this 4000 sq metre property. Properties on the estate grow olives and make the fynbos-fragrant oil that adds a peppery nuance to a salad dressing or juicy table grapes that make their way to lunch platters served with a local wine.
Your stay here is all about exploration.

The surrounding 120-hectare nature reserve that borders historic Vergelegen Wine Estate, is game-rich with buck, zebra and wildebeest. The estate’s reservoir captures clear mountain water and you can swim or canoe here after a picnic. A day of field photography or hiking inevitably closes with that delicious feeling of muscles finally given the stretch they deserve … And so to the late afternoon and tea ‘at home’ or that first crisp glass of local Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc served around the pool deck.

The home itself is designed along clean, elegant lines in a colour palette of neutrals with art placed only on walls not fully dedicated to cinema-screen size windows that frame the views. Colour is used strategically but subtly to bring a thread of nature to the interior: the rug in the reading room was commissioned to echo the colour of the Atlantic and coral used in one bedroom suite, references the dramatic cloud-streaked sunsets over the Atlantic.
Your stay here will be about conversation, relaxation, recharging and creativity. Read, pen your memoirs, share the sights and experiences of the day, swim a few leisurely laps and take a deep breath of mountain air with a hint of ocean to it. By night, only the distant lights of Gordon’s Bay hint at ‘civilisation’. For the rest, enjoy the solitude and reconnecting with nature.
