Handpicked for you...
But, oh those summer nights …
There are iconic beaches around the world from the South of France and French Polynesia to Greece, Hawaii and Bermuda but to stay in Bletchley Place, a luxury bungalow above Clifton 4th Beach, for two weeks is Cape Town life at its best. And a summer escape at its most splendid.
With three bedrooms, up to six guests have at their feet a sugar-white beach and crystal sea dotted with the dark granite rocks characteristic of the area. Elegant white yachts drop anchor here and bob just beyond the sheltered surf line. From the bungalow’s front veranda, the strong summer sun light filtered by the wooden overhead slats, sip chilled white wine and dine on local seafood, chat and watch the sun’s last flash of green before the earth orbits out of range. In your own space, in your own time. With sunrise at after 5 30 am and sunset after 8 30 pm the day is deliciously long on this side of Table Mountain.
If dining in doesn’t always appeal then head off to any one of dozens of smart restaurants within a radius of one to eight kilometres.
In the heat of the afternoon, the bungalow’s ‘palm room’ is a cool retreat and the perfect space in which to loll on the built-in seating, a cocktail of your choice in hand, a good book, your play list on…
Bedrooms in soothing nautical blues, greys and white, are your ultimate retreat points with crisp, cool white linen against your skin’s first sensitive inkling of a tan.
The interior design palette of this Clifton bungalow is calm and perfectly balanced between sophistication and relaxation. The city is abuzz at this time of the year but this contemporary space, metres from the beach, is where you pull up the drawbridge and indulge in that escape you’ve been promising yourself for so long.
What we love!
While the beach is a barefoot hop down the pathway, the view from the bungalow’s front veranda is superb. Beach, sea and horizon views are all yours without the bustle.
Clifton 4th Beach is a scant kilometre from Camps Bay bars and restaurants, 8 km from the shops and restaurants of the V&A Waterfront and 8 km from the city centre. In 15 to 20 minutes you’re everywhere!
