Handpicked for you...

Perhaps it is the chance to dive and spot an elusive and endangered dugong or to swim with dolphins that will draw you to Mozambique. Or that it is still relatively ‘wild’, unlike other more sophisticated Indian Ocean island experiences. There is something raw, exciting and untouched about this part of the East African coast and yet a lodge destination such as Perlo do Mar delivers both – the wild and the luxurious. It is a perfect off-the-beaten track escape. The architecture of the lodge remains true to the Mozambican style of high thatch roofs and cool floors but with contemporary interior design reserved for its villa, suites and annex. Décor is a subtle translation of what surrounds you here; coral, sea, sand, sun bleached shells, indigenous flowers and tropical fish.
But by all accounts, it is the staff here who make the ultimate difference. Lodge manager Alberto heads the team and who brings a personal touch to his hospitality. He is the ultimate activity organiser. Your day can easily be a mix of swimming a few laps of the pool, a beach walk, snorkelling, jet skiing, a sunset cruise or an island hop to explore your surrounds. If you’ve been more adventurous and gone deep sea fishing, your catch may well be your dinner. This what a real beach holiday should be about: sunset cruises, fresh seafood, gentle hospitality and switch-off time.

What we love!
No need to hire your own 4X4. Lodge manager Alberto will collect you from the airport
The lodge is a perfect spot from which to island hop to nearby Bazaruto.
If you are water sport fans, the lodge offers jet skiing, sailing, diving and kayaking
If deep sea fishing is your sport, this is angling heaven
