Handpicked for you...

Sunlight filters through reed roofing and dapples the verandas of this perfect summer retreat. It’s here, outside, that you will spend summers in your hideaway. A few hundred meters from one of the most iconic beaches in the country – Robberg Three – you simply roll out of voluptuous white linen beds onto cool floors, pull on a cozzie and T-shirt and either walk to the beach, plan a swim or grab a board and a wave. It’s that kind of holiday space. Easy. Relaxed. Unfussy. Home later, ravenous from your day out, there’s a pizza oven to fire up and slices of homemade bases with extravagant toppings to recharge your batteries. The open plan kitchen and lounge area are made for cheerful gatherings whatever the season. Plettenburg Bay’s unusual micro-climate can often produce clear warm days in winter with the house designed to cocoon you from the chill. There’s a fireplace and beds all have electric blankets.

Plantation house is inspired by the owner’s Indian Ocean Island roots so think palm fronds, warm water, and silky air in summer. White walls and furnishing, wicker seating, light wood and an accent of blue create a freshness to the house in perfect accord with its function; arrive, shuck off your city persona and get into holiday mode. A dining table for 10 encourages one of those family/friends gathering that tend to begin at noon and blur gently into the late afternoon. Each room opens onto the veranda so while you slip into an after-lunch sleep, the light, sweet fragrance of fleshy frangipani blossoms, are your last recollection.

What we Love
Paradise for water babies: swim in the lagoon, go boating, surf.
Rack up those steps on your smart gadget: go birding, take a long hike or cycle in the forest
Eating in can be a delicious cheat-treat: Raid The Deli in Plett for breads, cheeses, preserves and delicacies or sneak into Clare’s for sinful sweet stuff.
The owners give up their favourite local restaurants for eating out: The Bungalow on Hobie Beach, Emily Moon and Le Fournil café from a French connection.

What you should know
Children are welcome but do ensure supervision as there’s an open pool on the property.
If you love the décor and want to get the Plantation House Look: Go local and look for Mungo Textiles for cushions, throws and towels. If you’re kitchen gadget and accessory made, try Pret a Pot in Plett.

This would be a novel for the ages if I had unlimited space to write this review. As someone who fancies herself something of an interior designer, I cannot tell you how beautifully appointed (and yet still incredibly comfortable) this lovely home is. Not one detail was too small to be overlooked in the tastefully decorated black & white themed design punctuated to perfection with bold splashes of colour perfectly befitting the beach house that it is. All the way down to the black & white hangers in the open cupboards, and the B&W Charlotte Rhys luxury amenities in the master bath. All of the bedrooms open onto a lovely portico that has accordion doors allowing for complete openness to the whole of the beautifully manicured pool and garden areas. We were a group of 3 adults, but kids have most certainly not been overlooked here, with a large room painted with chalkboard paint and a ping pong table devoted just to them! Veronique's hostessing skills are beyond the pale. She greeted us with a lovely gift platter of cheeses, local wines, and as if she knew we were Americans, several bags of ice in the freezer!! If I weren't afraid it would ruin my rating as a renter, I'd have been tempted to become a squatter, and let the courts sort it out - that's how much we loved this home. It also doesn't hurt that it is so very reminiscent of my grandparents' home when I was growing up. I've renamed it from Plantation House to Grandma's Place in my mind. If you're asking yourself whether to book Plantation House or not, just stop right now, and do it!! You can thank me later. ;-) P.S. It has a scullery. As an American, I LOVE this concept, and I just love saying "scullery".

The space was absolutely amazing. It was out of an architectural/ interior design magazine. An excellent home base to visit the area or to just lounge around and relax. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We felt so fortunate to be the first guests following the lovely owner’s creation of a fresh, new look for this house. It is so warm, welcoming and inspiring, we felt instantly at home. The house is light and sun-filled and a gorgeous space to relax and slip into holiday mode. The wander down to Robberg beach was much quicker than we’d anticipated – 3 minutes and we were on the boardwalk. We had a sublime time – thank you for organising – we’re planning a return trip already!

Plettenberg Bay

One of South Africa’s most beloved beach holiday destinations, Plett evokes nostalgic memories of beach time with family as kids, fun times relaxing, surfing and partying with friends as students or returning here as parents with their own kids. There’s definitely a laid-back glamour to Plettenberg Bay with its beautiful beaches, the warm waters of
