Handpicked for you...

Dream interpreters agree that when in our deepest sleep, we often sense that we are flying. Some people recall an eagle’s eye view of landscape below and a real sense of buoyancy and flight. They all agree it means longing for freedom … escape. This is why the private villas at Tsala Treetops between Plettenberg Bay and Knysna, are so special. The two separate suites are designed to create the lightest structure in glass and wood, a natural extension, it seems, of the forests that stretch out in a gigantic and undulating green carpet. Double volume windows and high ceilings give the suites a sense of almost floating in this architectural space, surrounded by luxury touches: an egg shaped bath faces the window and forest tops beyond: relax, detox and take back your stress-captured life. Plunge into your own secluded private pool or if you’re here in winter, sip a little sherry and snack on a hand-crafted cookie. Indulge. There is an earthy glamour to the rooms with the ultimate in romantic touches, such as an outdoor but extremely private shower. The two suites accommodate two couples but are distinctly separate for maximum privacy.
Quite apart from escaping to this luxe tree house suite – and yes, it does also stir childhood memories of climbing, exploring and innocent adventures – Tsala Treetops is fabulously placed in an area of the Garden Route that will bring out the adult adventurer in you. On the estate, a meandering wooden walkway takes you through a canopy of trees, home to tiny Vervet monkeys and abundant birdlife. Here you are almost nest-level to some of the most beautiful species in the country, their calls demanding that you use your keenest eyesight to spot them in the light-filtered foliage. Return from your explorations for good red wine and a fully serviced room where small hospitable touches – a pillow treat of home-made nougat and the bed linen turned down — the only sign that you are not alone but gently cosseted here.

What we love!
The view from your bed and deck is out of this world but you will be tempted to explore and experience the myriad activities in the area: bungee jumping from the Bloukrans River Bridge, horse riding, mountain biking, swimming with Mako or Blue sharks in Plettenberg Bay, go on canopy tours, go abseiling, paragliding, skydiving, golfing, swimming, yachting and more. The local tourism bureau is fully equipped for intrepid travellers.

What you need to know:
The villas are equipped to offer a light breakfast send-off but for a more substantial breakfast, villa guests are welcome to use the main lodge restaurants (also for full dining options.)
Unfortunately the villas are not suitable for children of 10 years of age or under.
