Handpicked for you...

Situated in the Breede River valley close to Worcester, Bosjes (the name means ‘little bushes’) is a destination that hits a luxury getaway sweetspot – and for so many reasons. The estate’s magnificent Chapel, designed by the award winning Steyn Studio is certainly one of the most important architectural designs to come out of South Africa in recent years and a visit here and some time spent in quiet contemplation is food for the soul.

A newer development at the estate has been the conversion of a former barn into an accommodation offering – and like the Chapel it boasts a noteworthy design pedigree. Interiors expert Liam Mooney was called in to work his magic on the former working space and the result is utterly beguiling. You’ll love the juxtaposition of old and new – raw, exposed original walls are in stark contrast to the pared down, custom-made furniture and elegant nature-inspired colour palette.

Here and there you’ll spot a heritage piece but its mostly a clean lined and considered collection of pieces with lovely big windows to let in the unspoilt valley vistas outside. The Barn itself boasts five rooms – three are en-suite with queen beds and one suite with twin. The fifth suite is designed with families in mind, with a
kitchenette, two bathrooms and a loft area with beds for three – it’s a wonderful spoil for families and friends travelling together and after a day spent exploring the estate, enjoying spoils at the Bosjes Tea Garden or the Bosjes Kombuis (utterly delicious rustic food), settling down to enjoy a swim, the sunset and the sounds of silence is a rare joy.

If calm, contemplation and a taste of country life in effortlessly stylish contemporary surrounds sounds like your cup of tea, you will love this oasis.

What you need to know…

  • The farm’s restaurant Bosjes Kombuis is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so you’ll need to travel off site for lunch.
