The Bailey family’s Plettenberg escape, Bimble House, has as much personality, style, whimsy and off-kilter charm as its owners. From its bright red door to its wondrous views of the surrounding lush, wilderness this home welcomes its guests with endless character and a touch of magic.

Said to be the fourth oldest house in Plett, Bimble House is one of the area’s eccentric, longstanding friends. Bimble’s largely white interior is peppered with the occasional vintage find, rich wooden furniture and vibrant fabrics. There is something utterly endearing about the space, it lovingly extends itself to all those who enter its doors without any fuss or fanfare. A walk up the white staircase will lead you to the home’s main bedroom, the crown jewel. The room is paired with its own balcony, overlooking bush to the ocean and on northwards to the Tsisikamma mountains. Dominated by a giant Scots Pine, one almost feels like one has returned to the heights of your childhood tree house. After a restful night, rise with the sun and retreat to the kitchen for a hot cup of coffee. Whip up a lazy breakfast, make sparing use of an extensive range of intercontinental condiments, shrug on your favourite jersey and take a seat at the table of the upper deck to eat amongst the trees.

Bimble House is not right on the beach, it is only about a 230m walk there though!
