Scattered like jewels off Mozambique’s coast, this chain of five islands shimmer in the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park. The archipelago is a critical sanctuary for numerous marine megafauna species: it harbours dolphins, sharks, whales, whale sharks, manta rays and turtles, and the last viable population of dugongs in the Western Indian Ocean. The largest island, Bazaruto, boasts swaying palms and luxurious resorts, while Benguerra is a haven for scuba diving and snorkelling, with dazzling coral reefs.
