The quintessential West Coast beach hideaway
Yzerfontein’s clapboard beach houses are much loved by families who have been coming up the West Coast for years, but Not Forgotten is an old-timer for Perfect Hideaways too, one of the first to list in the collection.
Not Forgotten is aptly named after a never to be forgotten beach holiday! It is a classic white, wooden clapboard beach house reminiscent of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard in the East Coast of America with big West Coast beach views.
The interiors are beautifully decorated in the colours of the beach in front of the house – soft blues, smudgy greys, off-white, and crisp white linens, all textures to love in a classic West Coast retreat. It has a great prep area in the kitchen, big dining room table for lovely family feasts, and window seats to curl up in and read your books or fabulous decks to spill out onto the beach with big cushions and Adirondack chairs to gaze at the ocean.
Beach holiday of dreams
The beauty of this West Coast holiday spot is that if you’re here for a long stay, it’s just a short one-hour’s drive to Cape Town for a big shop or to meet friends. Equally, it’s perfect for weekend escape from the city for the locals, but even Capetonians find Yzerfontein a wonderful destination for long summer holidays right on the beach.
There’s nothing quite like stepping out barefoot onto the deck and straight onto the softest sandy beach on the first morning of your holiday or a quick weekend away, breathing in lungs full of the freshest sea air as the dawn sun slowly warms your face. It’s a chance to slowly recalibrate after a long week, to feel a comforting connection to nature and to let those shoulders drop. Blissful.
