Imagine the surprise at discovering the immaculately restored Tenuta Masseriola in this historic setting, with its Puglian heritage more evident than most. In a renovation that was just as painstaking at the mother farmhouse, Masseria Moroseta, the exposed stonework or soft tuffa (or ‘tuff’ bedrock) and the original buildings were carefully preserved in keeping with its surroundings.
Today, two modern structures surround the circular stone trullo or lamia and a blissfully inviting rim-flow lap pool takes in an absolutely classic view over the olives. By early evening, it’s the enchanting glow of the sunset lighting up this expansive outdoor entertaining area that has guests returning time and again. Old meets new with ease, allowing guests to maximise the joys of good food (great kitchen to cook in!) and extended alfresco summer living.
Today there are nine beautifully restored properties spread around the Valle d’Itria, mostly within 15 minutes of each other and each one benefits from the amazing services the Moroseta team offer, in addition to contemporary interiors with high-tech kitchens and modern-day luxuries of air conditioning and central heating. And you don’t have to self-cater if you don’t feel like it: seasonal breakfast, lunch or dinner dishes can be delivered, or an expert pizzaiolo (pizza chef) can be booked to cook authentic Italian pizzas. Equally, massage therapists and yoga sessions – and even personal trainers will come to you.
