Although this romantically enchanting hideaway in Plettenberg Bay can accommodate as many as ten of your most favourite travelling companions, in the five glorious bedrooms, Bimble’s House is also perfect for just the two of you. Its considered configuration escorts you through inspired pockets of calm and contemplation. Where it’s just you and the ocean. The lush greenery of the coastal bush, the milkwoods, the cypress and the Scots pine.
The Knysna loerie’s song and the Southern right’s spout. With the Tsitsikamma Mountains rounding up the view for good measure. Yes, there’s something to be said about occupying a beach house, and all of its meandering spaces, all for yourself. To simply ingest all that this seaside sanctuary has to offer, all for yourself.
Whether you opt for the small or slightly larger clan to accompany you on this great Garden Route adventure, Bimble’s House is incredibly generous when it comes to giving you all that’s written on the holiday tin. Located a mere 200-odd metres from the shoreline of Central Beach, you’ll wonder down to the sea around the clock for those mandatory dips. A very easy amble into town for all of the essentials. In fact, an incredibly scenic stroll through the thick ocean shrub and leafy trees, barefoot ’n all. Robberg Beach or the Lookout are nearby.
Fantastic cafés and eateries within one’s appetite’s reach. The owner is incredibly proud of the fact that the car is very rarely used throughout the stay. Everything you need or desire is accessible by foot.
One of the oldest homes in the oldest part of this revered seaside town
Whatever’s on your beach holiday cards, Bimble’s House will encourage you to do what you always say you’re going to do. Sit still and savour the simplicity of the sun and the sea. Read that book on the lovely deck – one being the extension of the large living, dining and cooking areas of the home, and the other being an extension of the master suite. Sip on your tipple of choice and take in the sounds of the birds. Watch the whales for hours.
Wander down to the water for another dip. Come back and rinse off the salt in the outdoor shower then settle in front of the fire with the next few chapters. Get into the gallery kitchen and cook those delicious meals you love to serve. Take in the views of the mountains and the light that flows through all of the windows, landing on the table that’s ready to be gathered around. For those that fancy, there’s an incredibly large TV to enjoy when the rain arrives on occasion.
An almost finely-tuned piano to invite a bit of Bach to the beach holiday. Take those long baths in the tub that sits beneath the plum tree. Where the birds love to nest. It’ll feel as if you’re residing in a heritage home in the Karoo, with all of its sentimental collectables and quirky, comfy furnishings and pieces of art. Yet you’re in one of the most special pockets of seaside bliss, all aboard the holiday train with your open ticket to tranquility.
