A relatively unknown coastal village in Northen Evia and just 2.5 hours’ drive from Athens, peaceful Ilia is nestled between the foothills of Mount Telethrio and the sea. It’s known for its healing thermal springs that flow into the sea, giving it a distinctive reddish hue in parts. The Monastery of Saint George, a woman’s monastery doing back to 1670, is also nearby but most locals come to enjoy the beach, which is distinctly lacking in umbrellas – just the way we like it!
